Abstract

This study aimed to determine the control system, supervision and strategy applied in the Medan City Archives and Library Service. This research used descriptive qualitative research. Research conducted by knowing the value of the independent variable, either one or more (independent) variables without making comparisons or linking with other variables. The technique used the probability sampling technique used, namely simple random sampling, which was said to be simple (simple) because the sampling of members of the population is done randomly without paying attention to the strata in the population. There
were two sources of data in this study, namely primary data and secondary data, and techniques in data collection were through interviews, documentation and observation.
The results of his researched were libraries as educational institutions and information provider institutions would have good performance if supported by adequate management, so that all institutional activities will lead to efforts to achieve the goals that have been planned. To manage a library requires good management skills, so that the direction of activities was in accordance with the desired goals.
The purpose of the control system in the library is that activities or tasks given to employees by superiors were quickly completed on time so that the objectives of the library service and archiving of the Medan city can be achieved as desired. The supervision used was to supervise the employee whether the employee has done the task assigned to him and the strategy applied was to develop the competence of human resource competencies, therefore the control system, supervision and strategy were very important in the Medan city library and archival service so that the desired goals were achieved . The control system implemented is so that employees can control their work in a timely manner and the supervision is to supervise employees whether the employees have done the tasks assigned by the head of the department to employees so that goals can be achieved and the strategy is to develop human resource competencies, increase public reading interest and library visitors , and strengthen library and archival facilities and infrastructure to support orderly management of libraries and archives.
